Math Placement Assessment
APU uses the ALEKS PPL system to determine the best initial math/statistics placement for incoming students. Students who need to use ALEKS are encouraged to take an initial diagnostic assessment at home, and then work in their personalized Prep and Learning Module to review. They will then be able to retake the assessment up to four times in order to achieve their best possible score.
An ALEKS placement score expires 18 months after the date the student takes the assessment. Students are generally expected to take their first math or statistics course sometime during their first year and should take it no later than their third semester unless instructed to do otherwise by their academic advisor.
