Added Authorization in Special Education: Autism Spectrum Disorders (Also Online)
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) has approved the Division of Teacher Education, Special Education Programs, to offer an added authorization in the area of autism spectrum disorders for teachers who possess a Mild/Moderate Disabilities Education Specialist Credential to expand the scope of instruction for current teachers. The added authorization program consists of 12 units (4 courses). Courses are offered online or at APU regional campuses with sufficient enrollment.
Those with a current CTC-designated Mild/Moderate Disabilities Education Specialist Credential (before summer 2010):
- Level 1 Credential
- Level 2 Credential
- A 3.0 grade-point average
- Appropriate Mild/Moderate Disabilities Education Specialist (K-12) Credential. Students should contact their credential analyst in the Office of Credentials at (626) 815-5346 prior to initiating a program.
